Common Reason People Ignore Their Bruxism Symptoms

Posted on 12/10/2019 by Dr. Shaun Rai
Common Reason People Ignore Their Bruxism SymptomsBruxism is a condition where the affected person will continually grind their teeth. Teeth grinding can occur in the daytime, or it can occur in the nighttime.

Nighttime teeth grinding is more difficult to treat because many people are unaware that they are grinding their teeth while they are sleeping. Some people who grind their teeth in the daytime may even be unaware that they are doing it.

It can be easy to ignore the early symptoms of bruxism. It's easy to chalk up the pain you have been feeling in your face to allergies, or you may think it's normal to have headaches every so often. However, these are common signs of bruxism.

Other Signs Of Bruxism

Other common signs of bruxism include pain in the ear or ringing. These may be mistaken for a different condition called tinnitus. Many people go to their general practitioner only to get news that they don't have tinnitus. In some cases, you can even be treated for tinnitus even though you don't have it.

Sometimes people will experience pain in their mouth due to bruxism. Constantly grinding teeth not only affects your jaw muscle, but also your teeth. When you grind, your teeth are under a lot of pressure. In some extreme cases, they can even be broken.

Other reasons to ignore signs of bruxism include not knowing anything is wrong or simply ignoring the symptoms. One reason we like to spread this information is so that people know what to look for when dealing with dental problems.
